As the impact of COVID-19 is falling since there are now medicines which are available for cure in most of the cases and vaccination is believed to be available soon. The biggest concern that frightens humanity is that what will happen if another such infection spreads in the world. Though the governments will be much more careful and proactive in the future but they are now aware with the consequences of such viral infection. The governments have started to work towards a contingency plan. Contingency plan in which physical presence of human being is minimized. Any such plan will totally rely on advent of new software systems by Computer Science Engineers.
We have seen how apps like Zoom, Microsoft Team, Google play etc. helped the academicians to continue the knowledge transfer process. Now Indian government has opened up a challenge for development of Zoom alike Indian app. This is believed to be just the starting. Many more such apps will be required which can complement human beings in all the sectors of human society. This is going to create huge number of job opportunities for computer engineers.
Other than the mobile apps there is a massive requirement of Robots in the Manufacturing, Construction, Transportation, and Medical sector which require application of Artificial Intelligence techniques. The majority of load for developing such systems will be borne by Computer Science Engineers. Even the Law enforcement department like Police and Home Guards will be requiring large number of Robots and Drones. The production of these many robots and drones as well their maintenance activity will again give rise to large number of jobs for computer engineers.
Another challenge post COVID-19 will be to safeguard the medical professionals during outbreak of infection. Hundreds of healthcare worker and doctors lost their life while treating the COVID-19 patients. What now will be required is an automated system which can assist doctors in treating patients. Few good hospitals are already using Expert Systems known as Decision Support Systems (DSS) which work on Machine Intelligence based algorithms which aid the doctors in timely and accurate diagnosis of diseases. These Machine Learning algorithms are developed by Computer Science Engineers. Also there will be an ever increasing requirement of robots in medical field too for preventing doctors from contamination while treating an infected person.
Data Science is another frontier where lack of Jobs will be offered in the next decade. Already companies are falling short of Data Scientists. Facebook, Google, Twitter, Instagram have collected massive amount of data in the past decade and have developed intelligent algorithms which can read the hidden information and find patterns in this massive data. But they need computer engineers to do this job. Now there are so many mobile apps running in our mobiles and collecting user data, the requirement of more such Data Scientists is quite evident.

Gaming and animation is another industry where there is high demand of Computer Engineers. Gaming is becoming the new playground for children as well as for adults. During the COVID-19 outbreak there was a steep surge in the count of people using gaming platform for their entertainment. The numbers of hours spend playing online games also increased. This could be seen as a calling for development of new games which can satisfy the hunger for entertainment of human beings. Overall the entire entertainment industry including Hollywood is now becoming more inclined towards graphics and animation which is increasing the count of jobs of Graphic designers and Game developers.
To summarize, there were already so many jobs existing for computer science engineers , and now COVID19 has opened gates for a massive increase in the count of these jobs as more and more work will be now be done either by online system or using intelligent systems in the form of Robots or DSS or using animated systems. This will be requiring huge number of computer science engineers in the next decade. Most reputed magazines predict that in the next decade the highest human resource demand will be in engineering field and within engineering, computer science is expected to experience the highest growth. If you are a coding junkie willing to opt for Engineering then, this branch maybe the right choice for you.
